The welfare of every child in our care comes first, in every decision we make and every session we run.

This policy explains how Foundation Tuition protects the children who attend our sessions, and what families and staff can expect from us in return.
Our Commitment
Foundation Tuition believes every child has the right to learn somewhere they feel safe, valued and respected. We take our duty of care seriously and work to keep that trust at the centre of everything we do, in line with current safeguarding guidance for organisations working with children.
A child's welfare always comes first. This applies equally to every student, whatever their background, ability or circumstances.
Who this policy applies to
This policy covers everyone who works with children on our behalf, including tutors, administrative staff and any other adult present during sessions. Anyone falling short of these standards will be addressed through our internal procedures, which may include suspension from working with us.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead
A named member of our team holds overall responsibility for safeguarding at Foundation Tuition. They oversee this policy, act as the first point of contact for any concern, and ensure every member of staff understands their responsibilities. Staff recruitment and conduct
Everyone who works directly with children at Foundation Tuition is vetted before starting, including an enhanced DBS check, and completes safeguarding training appropriate to their role.
Staff are expected to maintain clear, professional boundaries with students at all times, treat every child with dignity and respect, and never be alone with a child outside the ordinary running of a session.
Recognising a concern
Staff are trained to be alert to signs that a child may be at risk, whether through neglect, or physical, emotional or sexual harm, and to take any disclosure from a child seriously, however it is shared with them.
Reporting a concern
Any staff member with a concern about a child's welfare must report it to our Designated Safeguarding Lead without delay. Concerns are recorded, handled confidentially, and, where appropriate, passed on to the relevant local authority or children's social care team.
Parents and guardians who have a concern of their own are welcome to raise it directly with us at any time.
Online and communication safety
Tutors do not contact students directly through personal email, phone or social media. All communication with families is handled through Foundation Tuition's official channels, and staff are expected to keep their own social media accounts private from students in their care.
